Ani Dilanian develops a practice centered on direct-carving sculpture and intaglio printmaking. Her works emerge from a direct, physical encounter with the material. She carves alabaster, marble, granite and serpentine, and engraves on zinc, bronze, wood and linoleum. Her approach is grounded in gesture, the depth of the line, and the inherent presence of mineral matter.

Trained at René Coutelle’s studio (1989–1999), she has received multiple awards, including sculpture prizes in 1990, 2000, 2007, in September and December 2014, and in 2016. Her path in printmaking was shaped within several renowned studios, notably those of Rena Tzolakis, the Academia Rafaello Urbino in Italy, the CNEAI in Chatou with Christiane Vielle, and the J. Haddad Art School in Sarcelles with Cécile Baudoncourt.

For this exhibition, titled “The Song of the Armenian Stones, or the Return to Freud,” the artist brings together sculptures, drawings and prints. Visitors are invited to discover a body of work in which carved matter converses with engraved lines, following a personal and artistic trajectory that explores memory, culture, form and the unconscious.
